“I feel more confident after vaccination” – Senior citizen

JEMPOL – “Everyone must take the injection if we want our country to recover. We must do this as the cases are getting higher,” said a senior citizen Covid-19 vaccine recipient.

Lim Bee Soi, 65 from Taman Timur Bahau received her vaccination in conjunction with the Second Phase of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) at the Jempol District and Land Office Vaccination Centre today.

According to Bee Soi, she did not feel anxious as she has already got the advice from her doctor earlier. She has to depend on the wheelchair for her mobility after a surgery to remove a tumour on her back last year.

“We have high risk of being infected if we are not vaccinated but after we receive the injection, the risk could be reduced. Therefore, I come here today after getting the appointment. It would be easier for me to go anywhere else after getting the injection.

“My doctor told me that I should be fine after the first dose of vaccine, however, I may feel a little lethargy or even have fever after my second dose,” she said when met by MalaysiaGazette today.

Meanwhile, taxi driver, Manickam Kanapathy, 65, said that he did not feel any pain or dizziness after receiving the first dose of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

Nevertheless, Manickam said that the healthcare workers reminded him to continue to monitor his health in case of adverse reactions.

“I feel that this is the best for everyone. If we do not take the vaccine, it would be bad as this is for the good for all of us,” he said.

Another recipient of Covid-19 vaccine, senior citizen Lam Wooi Peng, 66, said that she pushed aside all fear to receive the vaccine injection as she needs to protect herself and the people around her.

“It was scary when I was on my way here but I started to relax once I entered the room. It is great. Now I feel more confident to go anywhere but must not forget to wear a face mask,” she said.

Felda Lui Barat Settler, Mohtar Yunus, 65, said that he did not feel any pain during the Covid-19 vaccine injection and it was like any other common injection he had received.

“I don’t feel anything. Everything was alright. Alhamdullilah, with this vaccine, I recommend all Malaysians to take it to protect themselves and everyone,” he said.

Sharing the similar experience, Kamsiah Yaakub, 65, said that she did not feel any pain or numbness and everything went smoothly.

At the same time, Kamsiah also invited everyone who has got the appointment date to go to the vaccination centre on the stipulated date.

“I advise everyone, if it is our turn according to the government’s recommendation, there is nothing to be worried about. Please come when it is time for you to be injected,” said the woman from Kampung Baru Ayer Hitam.

Malaysia is currently in the second phase of the Covid-19 vaccination programme beginning 19 April until August. The second phase would encompass approximately 9.4 million senior citizens aged 60 years and above and high risk groups. –MalaysiaGazette
