KUALA LUMPUR – Celebrity and entrepreneur, Neelofa and all her family members are fined RM60,000 by the police after they were found to have violated the standard operating procedures (SOP) of wedding ceremony during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).

No discount would be allowed for Neelofa and her family members involved, said the Dang Wangi District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Zainal Abdullah.

According to him, the investigation paper on the violation of CMCO SOP case involving Neelofa or her actual name, Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor’s wedding has been submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chamber.

“In the decision of the investigation paper, the Attorney-General instructed Neelofa and her family members to be issued compound under Regulation 19 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) (Conditional Movement Control) (No. 4) (Amendment) Regulations 2021.

“Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor is issued a compound of RM20,000 (no discount is allowed) for two offences as the organiser who has failed to obey the instruction of the Director-General of Health on the SOP compliance of CMCO Social Events Organisation after failing to ensure at least one meter of physical distancing during the wedding solemnisation event.

“The second offence is violating the permission to travel interstate granted by the officers given the authority under subregulation 4(2) of the similar Regulation, as there were activities beyond the scope permissible by the police,” he said in a statement today.

Mohamad Zainal added, Neelofa’s husband, Muhammad Haris Mohd Ismail was issued a compound of RM10,000 (no discount is offered) for violating the permission to travel interstate granted by the officer given the authority under subregulation 4(2) of the similar Regulation, as there were activities beyong the scope permissible by the police.

Meanwhile, all her family members could not escape the law.

“20 family members of Neelofa were issued the compound of RM1,500 each amounting to RM30,000 for failing to ensure one meter of physical distancing during the wedding solemnisation ceremony.

“The compound will be issued on everyone involved today, and the total amount of compound issued against Neelofa and her family members in this case is RM60,000.

“Therefore, PDRM would like to advise the public to continue to obey the Conditional Movement Control Order and failing to obey the order would cause actions to be taken against them under the provision of the law,” he emphasized. –MalaysiaGazette
