KUALA LUMPUR – The mandatory quarantine period for citizens and non-citizens travelling from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan has been extended to 21 days with immediate effect.
Meanwhile, the mandatory quarantine period for travellers from other countries has also been extended to 15 days, at the quarantine stations determined by the government.
However, according to Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, this quarantine period may be extended to 21 days if necessary.
The decision on the extension will be made based on the risk assessment on the 14th day of the quarantine.
According to him, the decision was made by the National Security Council (MKN) after considering the global Covid-19 situation when more than 50 percent of the countries in the world have reported Variants of Concern (VOC) in their community.
“The 21 days mandatory quarantine order on the Malaysia citizen and non-citizen travellers allowed to enter Malaysia from India will be remained,” he said in a statement today.
Besides that, he said, all travellers need to go for the RT-PCR Covid-19 test three days before department and upon arrival at the International Border.
“They need to go for the RT-PCR Covid-19 screening again on the 10th day. If their quarantine period is extended until 21 days, the RT-PCT Covid-19 screening needs to be done on the 18th day,” Ismail said. –MalaysiaGazette
