KUALA LUMPUR – The Chairman of Prasarana Berhad, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman admitted his mistakes while handling a news conference on the accident involving two Light Rail Transits (LRTs) yesterday.

According to Datuk Seri Najib Razak, the Member of Parliament of Pasir Salak apologised to all journalists present at the news conference.

Najib, in his Facebook post said that Tajuddin also accepted his advice and reprimand after he allegedly conducted the news conference in flippant manner.

“I called the Chairman of Prasarana, Tajuddun Abdul Rahman, who is also a Member of Parliament from UMNO just now and he could predict what I was about to say.

“He admitted that he made a mistake during the news conference on the LRT accident,” he said.

Najib said, besides an apology, Tajuddin had also requested Prasarana to fully bear the medical costs of the victims involved in the tragedy, besides increasing the financial aid to everyone involved from RM1,000 to a more appropriate amount.

According to Najib, Prasarana will also help the victims to demand for a compensation from Perkeso and employers with private employees’ insurance.

Tajuddin also promised that he would ensure a full investigation so that the cause of the tragedy would not be swept under the carpet or to protect anyone besides improving the standard operating procedures (SOP) on the safety can be implemented as soon as possible so that such tragedy would not repeat itself, said Najib.

Najib further added that Tajuddin has promised to resign right after the Supreme Council of UMNO instructs all UMNO members to resign at an appropriate time as determined during the UMNO General Assembly several months ago. –MalaysiaGazette
