PETALING JAYA – The police has given a grace period of three days beginning today for companies to obtain the approval letter from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI).
The Petaling Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said, the leniency is given as some of the industry players are still using the old MITI letters which has expired and become invalid.
“Companies that have yet to obtain their letters from MITI, we give you a period of three days from now.
“We found that some are still using the old letters. They said that some processes were slow. They can only process it tonight, or, they have already submitted their application but have yet to get the approval,” he said in a news conference at the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD) today.
The Selangor Chief Police had granted the grace period of three days until 4 June.
“After the grace period, we will enforce it according to the standard operating procedures (SOP) of the National Security Council (MKN),” he commented on the problems faced by industry players under the essential services who still could not get the approval letter from MITI to operate during the Full Movement Control Order (FMCO) or total lockdown that began today until 14 June.
Meanwhile, he said, the approval letters for inter-district and interstate travel can only be issued by the police. –MalaysiaGazette
