KUALA LUMPUR – Not updating the MySejahtera application is not an offence according to the law, including the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).
Therefore, Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob recommended that the compounds issued over the offence need to be revoked.
“Enforcers are also advised to not wrongly interpret the SOP enforced by the government,” he said in a statement.
Ismail Sabri said, the matter also include SOP violations involving companies or factories that operated overtime.
If that happens, actions should be taken against the employer or the company that force employees to work overtime.
He said, the offence is not committed by the employees as they are being forced to obey the orders of their bosses, thus, the compounds can be issued on the company, factory or employer who issued the order.
“Thus, compounds should also be given to the employers of companies that insist their employees to go to work at the office despite there is a work from home order,” he said.
Although it is not an offence under Act 342 for not updating the MySejahtera application, as a citizen who wants to break the Covid-19 chain, everyone should feel the obligation to update the MySejahtera application.
“MySejahtera is an application developed by the government to help in monitoring the Covid-19 outbreak in the country, by allowing its users to make self health assessment.
“Thus, the application is not merely for us to scan before entering a premise, it is also important for us to update it daily, depending on our movement and activities,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
