KUALA LUMPUR – The dethroned Chairman of Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana), Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has been issued a RM1,500 compound for not wearing face mask during a news conference on the Light Rail Transit (LRT) train accident recently.
The Dang Wangi District Police Chief, ACP Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said, Tajuddin was fined after committing an offence under Regulation 17 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures in Local Areas of Infection) Regulations 2021.
“The RM1,500 compound will be issued as soon as possible,” he said.
The police started an investigation on Tajuddin on 27 May after a public outcry alleging that he did not wear a face mask during while handling a news conference on the LRT train crash a day before that.
Investigation was conducted on the viral video showing the former Prasarana Chairman was not wearing a face mask during the news conference after he visited the crash site. Tajuddin was merely wearing a face shield without the mask during the news conference.
Meanwhile, Mohamad Zainal also advised the public to continue to adhere to the standard operating procedures determined by the National Security Council (MKN) in curbing Covid-19. –MalaysiaGazette
