KUALA LUMPUR – The Perikatan Nasional (PN) government has activated its fourth phase of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK).

According to its Coordinating Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar, this phase would involve the factory sector that are operating during the total lockdown or the Full Movement Control Order (MCO).

“The pandemic control phase needs to be mobilised as soon as possible among the industry so that the work place clusters can be contained.

“We will start with the industry sector this week and the Industry PPV effort will be coordinated by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), especially for the manufacturing sector,” he said in a joint-news conference with the Minister of Health, Datuk Seri Dr. Adham Baba.

The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation said that the implementation is a joint-decision made with the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to COVID-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV).

According to Khairy, a Vaccination Centre (PPV) will be opened under the collaboration with MITI.

“After this, the Industry PPV will be opened for other sectors such as construction, farming, retail and hospitality.

“It will be mobilised in stages to ensure each sector could be protected,” he said.

For the record, six mega PPVs are in operation currently to help the government expedite the second phase of PICK.

30,000 individuals can be vaccinated daily through the six additional mega PPVs.

Earlier, Khairy said that the Fourth Phase would involve critical economic sector, including those who need to operate throughout the MCO.

Among the industry involved in this phase are the manufacturing, export, logistics, transport, energy and utility sectors.

Meanwhile, another Mega PPV has be opened at the Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre (MIECC) this morning at the capacity of 8,000 doses per day.

“We have limited the appointments at MIECC today to only 4,900 doses from its actual capacity of 8,000 doses.

“This amount will be increased in stages soon,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
