KUALA LUMPUR – The police are conducting roadblocks and closures of several roads in the capital city following the Black Democracy demonstration this afternoon.

Nevertheless, the Dang Wangi District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said, they have yet to detect any individual who wanted to go for the assembly or assemble by wearing black.

According to him, the police have sealed off and guarded main routes leading to Merdeka Square, National Mosque and the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) building in Jalan Raja Laut.

“We were informed that certain quarters will assemble and hold a demonstration or flash mob around the capital city and several other states at the same time.

“In Kuala Lumpur, especially the Dang Wangi area, we will always ensure that the public peace is upheld.

“Thus, we have conducted more roadblocks and closed the main routes leading to Dataran Merdeka and main buildings such as EPF, Masjid Negara and other places deemed right,” he said when met at Dataran Merdeka today.

Elaborating further, Mohamad Zainal said that 42 officers and more than 150 members from the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters (IPD) have been mobilised for the observation and roadblocks at those locations.

He added, anyone who are at the capital for the assembly or operation are advised to cancel their plan.

“I have instructed all force at the area to not allow any group, individual or association to gather at any location during Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan as this is not only an offence under Act 342 but also an offence under the Penal Code. Assembly without approval cannot be held at all.

“I would like to advise those who plan to come to Kuala Lumpur for that purpose to cancel their plan as we will not compromise and we will take stern action based on our existing regulation,” he said.

Meanwhile, when asked if the police have identified the mastermind behind the video, Mohamad Zainal said that he cannot disclose further information on that.

On Monday, a 2 minute 40 second video was circulated in the social media, inviting the people in Klang Valley to assemble before Istana Negara, Dataran Merdeka and the Putrajaya Mosque at around 12.00 pm. – MalaysiaGazette
