Jimmy Gang mastermind nabbed in Contraband Op

KUALA LUMPUR – The mastermind of the cigarettes smuggling syndicate known as Jimmy Gang has been arrested by the General Operations Force (GOF) in Klang, Selangor on 21 June through the Contraband Op.

The Central Brigade Commander of PGA, Senior Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Abdul Halim said, the arrest on the suspect was made by the Intelligence and Special Investigation Branch, GOF and the Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department.

“The mastermind of Jimmy Gang has been arrested by the Bukit Aman and syndicate names such as Ben Gang and Jimmy Gang have been mentioned before this,” he said in a news conference.

He added the Central Brigade GOF will continue to track and compile information to topple other contraband syndicates that are still at large.

Earlier, the media reported that the Jimmy Gang is actively smuggling cigarettes in several states in the Peninsular of Malaysia.

On 24 June, the Selangor Maritime Director, Maritime Captain Mohd Rosli Kassim said that they have haven observing and compiling intelligence on the gang.

According to him, the gang has similar modus operandi to other cigarette smuggling gangs that have been toppled by the Selangor Maritime.

The Jimmy Gang is suspected for using boats to smuggle in cigarettes from Indonesia and Vietnam.

The boats then transfer the cigarettes smuggled from Vietnam that stop at the national water borders. Meanwhile, rickety boats are used to smuggle cigarettes from Indonesia. –MalaysiaGazette
