KUALA LUMPUR – The police have completed taking statements from the Minister at Prime Minister’s Department (Economic Affairs) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed over allegation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) standard operating procedures (SOP) violation.
The Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department Director Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan said, the police have finished recording the statement from the Jeli MP last week.
“For your information, the police investigating the case had recorded the statement from YB Minister… it was completed last week.
“The police are now in the process of updating the investigation paper to complete it,” he said when contacted by MalaysiaGazette this morning.
Abd Jalil however did not share details on the date and time when the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) leader got his statement recorded.
He added, the completed investigation paper will be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further order.
A picture of Mustapa, who is also known as Tok Pa with several other individuals dining at an eatery in Jeli went viral in the social media.
Mustapa confessed that he was at Alfath Café restaurant in Kampung Kalai, Jeli on 26 June and he apologised over the SOP violation. He also surrendered fully to the police for appropriate action.
The Jeli District Police said that Tok Pa, the café owner and several other individuals will be called for statement recording.
On another development, Abd Jalil also verified that the police had set an appointment to record statement from the Deputy Speaker of Dewan Rakyat, Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon who had allegedly violated the SOP of MCO by feasting on durian at a farm in Batu Pahat.
The video of the incident also went viral in the social media recently.
According to him, an investigation has been opened by the Batu Pahat District Police and the Batu Pahat MP will be called for statement recording soon to assist into the investigation.
“Investigation paper has been opened on this case and it is being investigated… we have arranged to take statement from that YB,” he said briefly.
When asked if that leader would be called for statement recording this week, Abd Jalil however said that the police would try to settle the process as soon as possible. –MalaysiaGazette
