KUALA LUMPUR – The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) is showing a great performance and the population that has completed 2 doses of Covid-19 vaccination has surpassed the 10 percent threshold for the country to transit from Phase 1 to Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (PPN).

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the development depicts that Malaysia is on the right track to reach herd immunity.

According to him, the indicator is in line with the National Recovery Plan (PPN) which projected that the vaccination rate would reach 10 percent of the country’s population by the end of July.

“This this positive development goes on, the whole country would be able to transit to Phase 2 in early August just like Perlis, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Penang, Sabah and Sarawak that have already move into Phase 2 after reaching the three main indicators of PPN,” he said in a statement today.

Elaborating further, Ismai Sabri, who is also the Minister of Defence said that the government has increased thorough enforcement in the form of inspections on factories and business premises as there are too many violations of SOP.

According to him, the Compliance Operation Task Force has conducted 80,827 inspections and Covid-19 snap checks nationwide yesterday, utilising the force of 20,005 members.

“This included inspection on 2,257 factories, 15,256 business premises, 1,148 construction sites and 286 employees accommodations,” he said.

From that amount, 68 premises including factories (23), business premises (43) and construction sites (2) were ordered to shut for failing to adhere to the SOP determined by the government. –MalaysiaGazette
