KUANTAN – The people are reminded to make the interstate travel incident during the last Hari Raya Aidilfitri that caused the spike of Covid-19 cases nationwide as a lesson.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, at the moment, the government does not allow any all inter-district and interstate travel.

“Interstate and inter-district travel is not allowed anywhere. Not during the first phase of National Recovery Plan (PPN). Not even in the second phase of PPN.

“Thus, the whole Malaysia that is in these two phases still cannot travel inter-district and interstate,” he said when met at the Dewan Jubli Perak Covid-19 vaccination centre today.

Earlier, Ismail Sabri visited Pahang to monitor the pandemic situation in that state.

Meanwhile, he, who is also the Defence Minister advised the people to learn from previous experience which caused the spike of Covid-19 cases in the country despite they managed to escape roadblocks.

“I hope that everyone can learn from the past Aidilfitri cases. We may get through SOP, but if we look into the interstate travel clusters, the cases in Terengganu for instance, the whole family was infected and people died, including in Kelantan.

“I hope that this is a lesson learned, although we can run from police roadblock and return to the hometown, we cannot run from Covid-19 infection,” he said.

According to Ismail Sabri, everyone needs to take care of themselves, practice self-regulation, do not travel interstate. That would only be allowed during the third and fourth phase of PPN. –MalaysiaGazette
