KUALA LUMPUR – Former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad alleged that the five days Special Dewan Rakyat Sitting that begins today is a lie.

The Member of Parliament (MP) of Langkawi explained that the special sitting is not what the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Malay Rulers Council wanted.

According to him, no debate is allowed and the government will merely brief the MPs on the National Recovery Plan (PPN).

“This sitting is not the Parliament sitting ordered by the Malay Rulers and Agong and the people knows that the Parliament needs to sit as soon as possible.

“But the government does not care to hold it as soon as it can. The Covid-19 increases by thousands of cases and there are hundreds of deaths every days, dozens of suicide cases and the people are suffering and they cannot put food on their table,” he said during the Dewan Rakyat sitting today.

Dr Mahathir continued to slam the government for cheating the world by holding a briefing session in the Parliament sitting.

He said, the government also took the opportunity of the sitting as an excuse that the Proclamation of Emergency was not presented and discussed in the Parliament.

“There’s no need for such briefing session, just hand us the White Paper. We need real Parliament sitting for us to debate,” he added. –MalaysiaGazette
