KUALA LUMPUR – All Members of Parliament are reminded to always adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) by wearing their face mask throughout their stay at the Parliament building.
Deputy Speaker of Dewan Rakyat, Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon gave the reminder during the third day of Dewan Rakyat sitting to avoid being infected by Covid-19 that is airborne, especially the Delta variant.
“I would like to remind all Members of Parliament to always wear your face mask in the hall and outside this noble hall.
“For your information, the Parliament building is being monitored by a team of enforcers to ensure the compliance of SOP,” he said while requesting the MPs to pull up the transparent barrier in the Dewan Rakyat to ensure separation between the MPs.
Yesterday, the Pasir Salak MP, Datuk Seri Ahmad Tajuddin Abdul Rahman was issued a compound for not wearing face mask at the lobby of the Parliament during the Special Dewan Rakyat Sitting.
The police detected the non-compliance after Twitter account, @sultanoftasik uploaded a picture of Tajuddin violating the SOP at around 10.00 am.

On 9 June, Tajuddin, who is also the former Chairman of Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) was issued a RM1,500 compound for not wearing face mask during a news conference on the Light Rail Transit (LRT) crash.
He was also tested positive for Covid-19 in January this year. –MalaysiaGazette
