KUALA LUMPUR – Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA), Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Raja expressed his huge disappointment on the revocation of the Emergency Ordinance as he has yet to grant his consent on the matter.
The Comptroller of the Royal Household, Datuk Indera Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said that His Majesty also expressed the same feeling that his order and consent for the revocation of all Emergency Ordinances to be presented and debated at the Parliament was also not carried out. He has given his consent and order to the Minister at Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law), Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan and Attorney-General Tan Sri Idrus Harun during a virtual audience with the King on 24 July.
“Seri Paduka Baginda emphasized that the statement from the minister at the Parliament on 26 July 2021 was inaccurate and it has confused the Members of Dewan Rakyat.
“His Majesty also emphasized that the application to revoke all Emergency Ordinances effective of 21 July 2021 was done hastily without being presented at the Parliament. The confusing and contradicting statement at the Parliament not only failed to respect the principles of the sovereignty of the law as contained in the National Principles but it also neglected the function of His Majesty as the Paramount Ruler of the country as contained in the Federal Constitution,” said the Comptroller of the Royal Household.
However, as the Supreme Head of Malaysia, His Majesty has the responsibility to give his advice if there is any unconstitutional actions by anyone, especially those carrying out the function and power of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
His Majesty also wants all Members of Parliament to prioritise on the welfare of the people and country in the current Parliament sitting to seek solution on the various problems faced by the people and the country during the Covid-19 pandemic crisis. –MalaysiaGazette
