KUALA LUMPUR – Deputy Speaker of Dewan Rakyat, Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said asked her colleague, Datuk Abdul Rashid Hasnon in a Tweet if he has read the letter dated 9 August as the copy of the said letter was sent to both of them.
“The letter dated 9 August 2021 has a copy to both of us. Have you read it @hjrashidjohor,” she asked.
The Member of Parliament of Pengerang is believed to be referring to a letter written by Istana Negara to the Speaker of Dewan Rakyat, Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun on the latest support of Dewan Rakyat members dated 9 August 2021.
In the same Tweet, Azalina also reminded Abdul Rashid that they had an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong together on 29 June.
Earlier, Abdul Rashid told a news portal that it is not a precedent for YDPA to communicate directly with the Speaker of Dewan Rakyat on matters pertaining the Parliament affairs.
“YB, didn’t we all met YDPA together on 29 June 2021?” she asked.

Azalina also uploaded a picture of the Dewan Rakyat Speaker and the Deputy Speakers having an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong on that date.
Besides the trio, the President of Senate (Dewan Negara) Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim was also in the picture.
She also uploaded a screenshot of the news report quoting Abdul Rashid’s statement.
A letter from the Istana Negara to the Speaker of Dewan Rakyat on the current status of support from the Members of Parliament (MPs) went viral in the social media.
A copy of the letter was to the Chief Secretary to the Government, Speaker of Dewan Rakyat and Deputy Speakers namely, Azalina and Abdul Rashid.
At the same time, an alleged letter from Azhar to Istana Negara dated 10 August went viral, stating the support of MPs. Nevertheless, the Speaker has denied that he wrote that letter. –MalaysiaGazette
