KUALA LUMPUR – Attention is focussed on three locations today, 16 August 2021 – residence of Prime Minister (PM) Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at Bukit Damansara, the Perdana Putra building in Putrajaya and Istana Negara at Jalan Duta.
Would it be a resignation? Or a request to dissolve the Parliament? We will only know the answer after Muhyiddin has an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong this afternoon.
Muhyiddin will be chairing a Cabinet meeting this morning to inform the cabinet about his decision; if he would continue to defend the Perikatan Nasional government or to resign following the loss of majority after 15 Members of Parliament (MPs) from UMNO withdrew their support towards him and the PN government.
After the meeting, the PM is expected to have an audience with His Majesty at the Istana Negara.
He is also said would be delivering a special announcement on his position after having an audience with the King.
The national political climate is getting hotter after the PM offered to set up a bipartisan government with the opposition MPs prior to his motion of confidence on 7 September.
Among his offer included the appointment of opposition chief to a minister similar with the rank of senior minister.
The offer, however, was rejected by all opposition parties and UMNO. –MalaysiaGazette
