KUALA LUMPUR – After repeatedly failing to be the Prime Minister, voices of dissatisfaction against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has begun to emerge.
Some of them wanted Anwar to stop leading the opposition, including stepping down as the Opposition Chief in the Dewan Rakyat.
According to a report by Nanyang Siang Pau, the ‘first shot’ was fired by a PKR leader in Penang, who expressed his feelings in their internal group chat.
That leader thinks that Anwar has disappointed the public and his political partners. In addition, he failed to unit PKR and caused many Members of Parliament (MPs) from PKR to jump ship.
The ‘first shot’ from Penang was reported from a leader who was previously on Mohamed Azmin Ali’s camp, thus, his motive of criticism was questioned.
However, there were also voices in PKR who wanted Anwar to pave way for other leaders to lead the opposition.
Among the names they mentioned to replace Anwar include Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad (Chairman of Pejuang), Lim Kit Siang (DAP Veteran Leader) and Datuk Seri Mohd. Shafie Apdal (President of Warisan).
Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief Minister of Penang, P. Ramasamy said in a statement that Anwar should not be blamed for failing to become the Prime Minister.
He said, Pakatan Harapan (PH) needs to identify their weakness and resolve their leadership issue in the future. – MalaysiaGazette
