SHAH ALAM – The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah expressed his disappointment with the increment of Covid-19 patients and death in the state.

According to His Majesty, the condition is due to everyone’s negligence on the compliance of standard operating procedures (SOP) of the National Security Council (MKN) and the Ministry of Health (MOH).

The Sultan said, there was a lack in enforcement by the enforcers and the people took the SOP compliance lightly after several economic sectors were opened last May.

“I don’t want to point fingers on anyone for the rise of Covid-19 death and patients.

“When the night markets and Ramadan Bazaars were opened, people flocked to those places without caring for the need of physical distancing and wearing face masks.

“The same goes to the operation of factories where the employers have failed in providing strict SOP for their workers.

“Such negligence have caused the third wave to the extent that the infection rate and Covid-19 deaths increased sharply,” said the Sultan of Selangor during the Opening Ceremony of the Selangor State Assembly sitting.

His Majesty also expressed his disappointed on the attitude of several politicians and dignitaries who abused their position to violate the regulations and SOP during the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).

“To make the matter worse, some politicians, dignitaries and celebrities abused their position to freely violate the orders issued during EMCO by joining activities forbidden by MOH and MKN.

“What could we do as it is all too late now. My people’s lives that have been sacrificed due to the Covid-19 pandemic could not be brought back to life,” His Majesty said.

His Majesty also hoped that those mistakes and negligence would not repeat itself and everyone must be responsible in comply to all SOP to help the government overcome the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I hope that the people in Selangor can fully cooperate in getting Covid-19 vaccination.

“All of you must play a part in advising the people to immediately get their Covid-19 vaccination shots so that Selangor can reach herd immunity earlier than the targeted date.

“However, I hope that those who have got their two doses of vaccine do not take this lightly and think that you are have the immunity,” His Majesty ordered. –MalaysiaGazette
