JOHOR BAHRU – The Crown Prince of Johor (TMJ) Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim said that only 396 teachers in the state refused to be vaccinated as they have doubts over the Covid-19 vaccine.

In a media statement, Tunku Ismail also said that the remaining 383 teachers have decided to postpone their vaccination for the time being.

Meanwhile, some of the teachers have agreed to register for the vaccine, he said after 779 teachers in the state who refused vaccination had an audience with the Crown Prince at the Sultan Ibrahim Building, Bukit Timbalan today.

“Some of them have allergies, are pregnant or their health condition do not allow them to do so. Some of these teachers have now agreed to register for the vaccination.

“During the meeting, I shared information about the vaccination programme in Johor and the current Covid-19 pandemic situation in Johor,” he said.

He also hopes that the teachers are aware of their responsibility of developing human capital by becoming a good role model.

“I hope that they will take their vaccine before the school reopens to ensure the health and wellbeing of the people,” he said.

Earlier, the Chairman of Johor State Education, Information, Heritage and Johor Committee, Mazlan Bujang said that the Johor State Education Department will be meeting the 779 teachers who refused vaccination.

According to Mazlan, the State Education Department will assist in explaining about the benefit of vaccine to those teachers so that they would choose to get vaccinated. –MalaysiaGazette
