Agong hopes bi-partisan MoU can end political crisis

KUALA LUMPUR – Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah hopes that the bi-partisan Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) sealed two days ago can immediately end the political crisis in the country.

His Majesty decreed, with the MoU, the members of Dewan Rakyat can put aside political agenda and unite in handling Covid-19 pandemic for the benefit of the people and country.

His Majesty also repeated his opinion that the people should not be burned with never-ending political crisis while the country is battling with health issues and economic slowdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the Comptroller of the Royal Household, Datuk Indera Ahmad Fadhil Shamsuddin, Al-Sultan Abdullah’s wish is in line with the stand of Malay Rulers on the importance of forming a stable and functional government that is efficient and prudent while the country is facing various crises.

“Therefore, His Majesty advises all members of Dewan Rakyat to prioritise on the welfare of the people and the country during the ongoing Parliament sitting.

“His Majesty also advised all Members of Dewan Rakyat to focus on fighting Covid-19 pandemic and bring lights into the country and people’s lives,” he said.

In the official statement from Istana Negara, Al-Sultan Abdullah expressed his confidence that, with political stability, increment of vaccination rate and the additional assistance given by the government, national economic recovery may be expedited.

In addition, His Majesty said that those are also the key factors to gain confidence from investors.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong also emphasized that the government needs to speed up the amendment of business and investment friendly policies to boost the competitiveness of the country.

“His Majesty takes this opportunity to urger all people to come in solidarity and give their full support to the frontliners by being disciplined in obeying the standard operating procedures (SOP) and all orders determined by the government.

“His Majesty also urged everyone to be calm and pray for the country to be protected by Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala from any disaster and Covid-19 pandemic can be curbed and ended immediately,” he said. -MalaysiaGazette
