KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Mohd Puad Zakarshi expressed his astonishment as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) only issued media statement on the remand of three of its senior officers after their remand period ended.

Furthermore, the media statement did not include the pictures of the detainees and the reason of their arrest.

The three MACC officers were remanded from 14 until 19 Septemebr.

“Other offenders would definitely be clad in orange shirt, their hands cuffed and have their pictures published,” jested the UMNO Supreme Council member.

He added, MACC’s statement only mentioned that the remand was made on power abuse, however, in the social media, the trio are alleged to have stolen money confiscated by the anti-graft commission.

Earlier, the news on the arrest of three MACC officers went viral in the social media for allegedly stealing money seized from Datuk Hasanah Abd Hamid, former Director-General of Malaysian External Intelligence Organisation (MEIO).

“Is there a cover up? Stolen money should be investigated by the PDRM and not an internal investigation by MACC.

“Is MACC safe? Its fence can be breached when two bodyguards of Datuk Seri helped their boss who was involved in Macau Scam to escape.

“Many things need to be improved on the judiciary institution of the country. UMNO itself, has issued a writ on PDRM for alleging that the RM40.3 million seized from the party went missing,” he said.

Following that, Puad said that the Members of Parliament ought to demand for a transparency from MACC, while questioning why a reformation on the commission was not listed in the Transformation and Political Stability Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the government and Pakatan Harapan.
