KUALA LUMPUR – Covid-19 patients no longer need to wait for their appointment from the District Health Office (PKD) to do their health assessment at the Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC).

On the contrary, they can walk-in at their nearest CAC if they are positive of Covid-19, said the Minister of Health, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar, stating that the measure is taken following the decrease of Covid-19 cases.

Besides that, the patients may also use the virtual CAC, especially those with light symptoms.

“For example, in Selangor, we no longer need appointments and several states have also transited into virtual CAC as the number of cases have reduced.

“So, any states can accept walk-in patients when the number of cases can be managed without congestion at the CAC.

“CAC is not a quarantine or treatment centre. It is only an assessment centre before the patients are assigned to undergo home isolation for those with light symptoms or to be sent to the PKRC for category two or three patients, while, category four and five patients may be sent to the hospital,” he said in reply to the additional question by Datuk Fasiah Fakeh, the Member of Parliament of Sabak Bernam (BN) at the Dewan Rakyat today.

Fasiah requested the government to explain about the action taken by them when many Covid-19 patients are not getting the call to get their assessment done at the CAC.

Meanwhile, Khairy said that the Ministry of Health (MOH) is also working on reducing Covid-19 Brought In Dead cases.

Thus, community enhancement, where the community leaders would be informed about Covid-19 cases so that they can be brought for assessment as soon as possible.

According to Khairy, MOH now has 209 CAC in all districts since its operation in January.

He added, more CAC will be accepting walk-in cases to run health assessment on the patients following the drop in cases in states such as Selangor. -MalaysiaGazette
