72 Covid-19 deaths yesterday, 5,745 new cases today

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia recorded a slight increment of 311 Covid-19 cases with 5,745 cases reported today.

“The positive infection rate today is 3.77 percent (5,745 cases)

“Public awareness to be vaccinated is vital, adhere to SOP and do periodical RTK-Ag tests,” Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah Twitted today.

With the latest increment, the cumulative Covid-19 cases in the country has shifted to 2,401,866 cases.

Meanwhile, 72 Covid-19 deaths were reported yesterday, increasing the Covid-19 death toll in the country to 27,993.

Based on the latest information by the Ministry of Health (MOH), from the 72 deaths, nine patients were brought in dead (BID) before they managed to seek treatment from the hospitals.

Johor recorded the highest cases of new deaths with 18 cases or 25 percent fro the total deaths reported yesterday.

Besides that, Sarawak recorded 13 deaths, Kedah (9), Pulau Pinang (7), Sabah (5), Kelantan (4), Perak (3), Terengganu (3), Kuala Lumpur (3), Melaka (2), Pahang (2), Selangor (2) and Perlis (1).

No death was reported in Negeri Sembilan, Labuan and Putrajaya.

An average of 164 Covid-19 deaths were reported each day within the past 30 days, compared to the seven days average of 82 deaths earlier.

At the moment, 1,785 deaths have been reported this month (October), meanwhile, 9,680 Covid-19 deaths were reported in September, 7,642 in August, 3,858 in July and 2,380 in June.

There are currently 89,173 active Covid-19 cases in the country, a reduction of 20.6 percent from the 112,379 active infections last week.

MOH also reported that the number of active cases had reduced 59.3 percent from 219,360 cases since 30 days ago. – MalaysiaGazette
