AMPANG – A member of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) pleaded not guilty at the Ampang Magistrate Court for outraging the modesty of an 18 years-old girl at a vape shop last month.

The accused, Zynetlee Von Zim, 27, recorded the not guilty plea after the charges were read to him before Magistrate Nur Maizan Rahim.

Based on the charge paper, the father of a child was charged with using criminal force on an 18-years-old female adolescent to outrage her modesty by holding her right hand and sucked her index finger.

The offence was committed in a vape shop at Taman Keramat on 5 October, 1.28 pm.

The charge framed under Section 354 of the Penal Code is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to ten years or with fine or with whipping or with any two of such punishments, upon conviction.

Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor, Nurul Ameera Sam Kamaruddin proposed for a RM10,000 bail and a surety. Besides that, the accused must not disturb the prosecution witnesses and he needs to surrender his passport to the court and report to the nearest police station every month.

However, the defence counsel, Adi Zulkarnain Zulkafli appealed for a lower bail as his client needs to support his wife who just delivered a baby and his family in Sabah.

After listening to both parties, the court set bail at RM4,000 with a surety and granted the terms suggested by the prosecution.

“As the accused does not have a passport, the court revokes that term,” said Magistrate Nur Maizan.

She also set 12 January 2022 for the mention of case.

Last month, the media reported that the accused, who was clad in his military uniform went to the vape shop where the 18-years-old shopkeeper was working, wanting to buy vape.

The man then left the shop after making his purchase; however, he went into the shop again.

After handing the vape pod to the man, the soldier took the opportunity and held the victim’s hand and licked her finger. The incident was recorded by a closed-circuit television and the footage went viral in the social media. -MalaysiaGazette
