Man pleads not guilty to abusing 7 children, assaulting wife

GEORGE TOWN – A man was slapped with the abuse of his seven children aged five to 14 years-old between January and December last year.

The accused, Muhamad Faizal Abdul Kudus, 42, was charged at two separate courts over the seven counts of charges. He pleaded not guilty on all the charges under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child’s Act 2001 read to him before Judge Mazdi Abdul Hamid and Judge Norsalha Datuk Hamzah.

Upon conviction, the conviction is punishable with the maximum of 10 years in prison or RM20,000 in fine or both.

The case was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor, Rais Imran Hamid and Muhammad Shahrezal Mohd Shukri, meanwhile, the accused was represented by Md Yusuf Md Idris.

The court set bail at RM60,000 with one surety, with addition conditions such as his passport surrendered to the court, reporting to the police station on the 1st and 15th of each month. The accused is also forbidden to stay under the same roof with all victims. Muhamad Faizal, his family members or representatives are also not allowed to come near or harass the victims and witnesses.

      The accused pleaded not guilty on all charges.

In a separate charge at the Magistrate Court, Muhammad Faizal was charged with causing harm to his wife, Ummu Nabilah Md Ehwan, who is also a Singaporean on her neck and body.

The accused pleaded not guilty after the charges were read to him before Magistrate Rosnee Mohd Radzuan.

He was charged with committing the offence at an apartment at Mutiara Idaman, Solok Tengku Jelutong between January and December last year under Section 323 of the Penal Code and read together with Section 326A of the same code which provides the maximum jail sentence of two years upon conviction.

The case was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor, Syairah Aqilah Khalil and the accused was represented by lawyer, Muhamad Asri Abdul Hamid.

The court set bail at RM3,000 and the accused was not allowed to go near or harass the complainant.

The courts set 11 February for the mention of all eight charges and the submission of documents. -MalaysiaGazette
