KUALA LUMPUR – The trend of ‘unboxing wife’ on social media should not be followed, said the Deputy Minister at Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Ahmad Marzuk Shaary.

The trend could bring to the fall of the family institution when the future parents who are the pillar of this institution did not have the right values, thus, they cannot instil moral values in their children.

“We live in the community where halal and haram collide. It is not weird when we can see how the social media is fully optimised to build wealth via popularity and the number of followers.

“This somehow also affected the values of an Islamic family institution. Couples no longer care about their dignity and are willing to reveal the weaknesses of their partner merely for content,” he said in a statement today.

Yesterday, the former Minister at Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Seri Dr. Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri said that ‘unboxing wife’ is clearly against the principles and culture of Islam.

According to him, husbands should always protect their family members from the wrath of Allah SWT, besides, urging them to be loyal to Allah and stay away from what is forbidden.

Recently, a trend took TikTok by storm, where newly wed couples upload video showing the groom helping the bride to remove her veil by removing all accessories on her head.

In the videos, the newly weds still have their wedding attire on and the video will be recorded via the mirror by the bride. -MalaysiaGazette
