KUALA LUMPUR – The High Court ordered former Supreme Council Member of UMNO, Datuk Lokman Noor Adam to delete all social media posts on Syariah Chief Judge, Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar within 24 hours.
His social media posts were related to sexual harassment allegations against Dr Mohd Na’im.
High Court Judge, Datuk Rozana Ali Yusoff allowed the ex-parte injunction presented by Mohd Na’im in his defamation suit against Lokman.
According to the lawyer representing Dr Mohd Na’im, Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kader, the court also fixed 7 February for the hearing of the interim-parte injunction.
“The interim injunction order was to stop the defendant or his representatives from reproducing the post in any way,” he said after the virtual proceeding today.
In his defamation suit filed on 17 January, Mohd Na’im as the plaintiff requested for an injunction order on defendant to delete the videos and posts and to stop him from republishing the posts.
In his statement of demand, Mohd Na’im, who is also the Director-General of the Syariah Judiciary Department Malaysia (JKSM) alleged that Lokman slandered against him by making statements via two Facebook live video on Lokman Noor Adam Official Facebook page on 10 and 13 January.
Mohd Na’im claimed that the defendant also uploaded the live video on his YouTube on 10 and 14 January, besides uploading three slanderous posts against him on the defendant’s Facebook account on 11 and 13 January. -MalaysiaGazette
