PETALING JAYA – The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is ready to increase the number of its members in Johor if necessary to ensure a smooth state election process.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Razarudin Husain said that his team is often on standby to face state election.

“If we are talking about the police, we are always ready in any situation,” he said during the launch 17th Op Selamat in conjunction with the Chinese New Year 2022 today.

He has contacted the Johor Police Chief, Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat to verify the preparedness of the Johor police after the dissolution of the Johor State Assembly last Saturday.

“On the Johor State Election, when we were informed about the dissolution of its state assembly, I spoke to the Johor Police Chief,” he said.

The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar granted His Majesty’s consent on the dissolution of the Johor State Assembly last Saturday.

His Majesty made the decision after he granted an audience to the Menteri Besar of Johor, Datuk Hasni Mohammad at the Bukit Serene Palace.

For the record, Hasni seek for Sultan Ibrahim’s consent to dissolve the Johor State Assembly after the Johor state government only has a slim majority of 1 seat by commanding 28 seats while the opposition bloc has 27 seats. -MalaysiaGazette
