KUALA LUMPUR – As the Johor state election is nearing the seats division among the political parties remain a quiz.
Rumours that PAS was only offered four seats by Barisan Nasional (BN) received the response from the President of the party, Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.
“We heard rumours. There is no negotiation yet. They (UMNO) want to give us four seats. In Melaka, they offered two seats. We are not going to beg for those seats.
“PAS will not beg. PAS has its own strength,” he told the journalists today, commenting on the Johor state election that will be held after the state assembly was dissolved on 23 January.
“The state election is triggered by the court cluster, the cluster that lost during the last election (14th General Election) and the cluster without position in the government.
“This court cluster has not been convicted yet, if they have dignity, they should fight in the court. Do not trouble the people with the state election.
“They trouble the people to save themselves. To those who lost during the election, they should be patient and wait for the general election,” he said, adding that a huge number of people do not agree with UMNO’s action.
“PAS has its own strength, there’s no need for this state election.
“PAS has 197 areas from the 222 Parliamentary areas and we have more than a million members and 800,000 active members. It was proven during the floods where our engine went to the field to help them in Selangor, Pahang and all other areas.
“We repaired houses, we managed to complete many things within one night,” he said.
Meanwhile, when asked if PAS is disappointed with UMNO’s action, Abdul Hadi confessed that some of the UMNO leaders had hurt the feelings of PAS.
“Some of them, like the court cluster and the clusters I mentioned just now. They are playing unhealthy politics. After Johor, where are they going to do a state election? Perak?
“One state after another. You’re tiring the people. Are you really going to do this in every state?” he questioned.
Abdul Hadi also said that the negotiation with BN is ongoing to resolve the Johor state election issues. -MalaysiaGazette
