KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has started its investigation on the power abuse allegation involving five senior officers from Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) today following a series of exposure on the social media.
MalaysiaGazette was told that several MACC officers have gone to the MARA office this morning to get several documents on the power abuse allegation to assist in the investigation.
According to a source, the presence of several plain clothes MACC investigators at the MARA building this morning and shocked its staff.
At the time of writing, at 1.40 pm, the officers from MACC are still in the meeting room at MARA, studying several documents.
“We were truly shocked. They are still here, studying the important documents. We don’t know other information as we were not informed about anything,” the source said briefly.
It is believed that they will be studying those documents before calling several witnesses to record their statements on the power abuse allegation involving the agency.
A shocking revelation on the power abuse involving the agency was made several days ago via a Twitter account by attaching six pages of letter on the integrity of MARA officers.
However, the Chairman of MARA, Datuk Seri Azizah Mohd Dun denied that there was any power abuse or malpractice in that agency or its subsidiaries as alleged in the viral document.
However, Azizah said that MARA will not take the allegation lightly and will not compromise in protecting any individual involved in power abuse or integrity issues.
Following the revelation, the MACC said that it would begin an investigation this Monday, by recording statements of several witnesses from MARA Corporation (MARA Corp).
“MACC views the integrity issues allegation involving several senior MARA officers who are under internal investigation by that agency seriously.
“MACC has received a report on the issue and will begin its investigation on 7 February 2022, by taking statements from several witnesses from MARA Corporation,” said the anti-graft agency. -MalaysiaGazette
