Shaman pleads not guilty to molest woman

MELAKA – A shaman pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate Court for molesting a 41-years-old woman last month.

The accused, Raba’ai Parman, 66, recorded the plea right after the charges were read to him before Magistrate Mohamad Izwan Mohamed Noh.

According to the charge paper, the married traditional healer was charged with molesting a 41-years-old woman by rubbing chicken eggs and lime on the body of the woman.

The incident took place at 9.00 pm at his house in Taman Rambai Utama, Melaka Tengah district on 11 January.

The victim went to the accused house with her child and a male friend to get treatment for the emotional problems.

The complainant was then asked to change into a sarong for her bath ritual before the accused rubbed lime all over her body while touching her intimate parts.

Upon conviction under Section 354 of the Penal Code, the shaman can be imprisoned up to 10 years or fine or both

Deputy Public Prosecutor Fiqri Hakim Zamri suggested for RM4,000 bail. The accused who was represented by lawyer, Santhil Ramu pleaded for a reduction of bail as his client suffers from backache, high blood pressure, diabetes and hyperlipidemia which require monthly medical treatment.

The court then set bail at RM3,000 and the accused cannot harass the victim until the case is solved. The magistrate then fixed 28 March for the mention of case. -MalaysiaGazette
