AYER KEROH – Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) has a world-grade rehabilitation centre for its insured persons who had accidents and need to undergo treatment at its Tun Abdul Razak PERKESO Rehabilitation Centre in Ayer Keroh, Melaka.

Located in Bandar Hijau, the Tun Abdul Razak PERKESO Rehabilitation Centre is among the first Neuro-Robotics and Cybernics Rehabilitation Centres in Malaysia equipped with the Hybrid Assistive Limb (HAL) robot suit, the latest neuro-robotic technology from Cyberdyne Inc, Japan.

Its Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Dr. Hafez Hussain said, the robotic suit assists in recovery, support and increase the movement functions of the patients based on the cybernics technology which combines the interaction about the human and robot.

“This is the latest robotic technology acquired from the West and the latest from Japan. It is our pride as we are the fourth country in the world and the first in the ASEAN region which use this technology.

“The future plan of PERKESO is to extend the Cyberdyne technology service in Malaysia, and also the region,” he said in a news conference on PERKESO’s Media Fam Trip 2022 at the Tun Abdul Razak PRP recently.

The Tun Abdul Razak PRP has acquired 24 HAL robot suits, namely, Lower Limb, Single Joint, Lumbarm and Lumbar for Labor Support suits.

Meanwhile, Jamil Endan, 40, and insured person who has been undergoing therapy for three months at the rehab centre said that his health condition is getting better and he is able to walk using crutches now.

“As a contributor of PERKESO, I am truly blessed because I do not need to fork out high cost for my rehabilitation treatment. Everything is covered by PERKESO. I even get allowance when I stay at the hostel here. I am very grateful,” he said.
