KUANTAN – A teenager was charged at the Magistrate Court today with causing the death of an 11-year-old boy last month.
The 16-year-old teenager was charged with causing the death of Muhammad Hafdan Mohd Qurbani Azhar at Surau An-Nadwah, Kompleks Asrama Cempaka Permata Camar, Jalan Pantai Sepat between 3.45 pm and 4.15 pm on 20 March.
However, no plea was recorded as murder cases are under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
The accused was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries the death penalty upon conviction.
The prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor, Fadhlin Hani Khairon, meanwhile, the teenager was represented by Datuk Mohd Najid Husain.
The media reported last month that an 11-year-old boy died after he was suspected to be kicked, strangled and slammed on the floor in an alleged theft incident involving RM4.
However, the Pahang Police Chief, Datuk Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf said that the cause of death was due to the blow in his head.
The accused looked calm when he left the accused dock at the court and accompanied by his mother and guardian at around 11.00 am this morning.
