KUALA LUMPUR – The court was told that the Founder of Rumah Bonda, Siti Bainun Ahd. Razali ordered the fifth witness to put ointment on the wounds of a Down Syndrome girl, Bella.
The witness, Yasmin Nahar Mahmood, 19, also told the court that Siti Bainun bought those ointments.
Among the ointments used on Bella were aloe vera moisturiser, yellow lotion, bio-oil, dermatix, Dettol solution, wound dressing and others.
The cross-examination which has entered the 11th day at 10.16am this morning was conducted by defence counsel, Asiah Abd Jalil.
Lawyer: Can Yasmin tell the court what picture is this?
Witness: Bella’s medication.
Lawer: How do you know that these are Bella’s medication?
Witness: Siti Bainun ordered Aidil to buy medications such as cream and yellow lotion. She instructed me to put the ointments on Bella’s wounds.
Lawyer: I suggest that you love Bella and treated her wounds until they recover. Agree?
Witness: Yes.
Lawyer: Did you buy any of these ointment yourself?
Witness: No.
Lawyer: Who bought them?
Lawyer: Siti Bainun.
Lawyer: Bella’s wounds healed because of you. Agree?
Witness: Don’t agree? Bella’s wounds did not heal?
Lawyer: Some healed, some not.
Lawyer: I suggest that those that healed were due to your deeds. Agree?
Witness: No.
Lawyer: So, they healed on their own?
Witness: If we let it be, it will heal on its own.
Lawyer: Which means, the wounds healed because it was left to heal on its own?
Witness: Not because of Yasmin (me).
The witness was also asked when did Siti Bainun start to hate Bella and caused the founder of Rumah Bonda to abuse the teenager.
Yasmin answered, she remembered an incident when Bella pulled a curtain until it tore, causing Siti Bainun to keep hatred towards the unfortunate girl.
Lawyer: Bella stayed with Bainun from July (2020) until February (2021) and she was not abused. Correct?
Witness: Yes.
Lawyer: Why did Siti Bainun suddenly got angry in February?
Witness: I don’t know.
Lawyer: From October (2020) until February (2021), Bella was safe. Healthy. Suddenly in February (2021), Siti Bainun started to abuse her. In your knowledge, there was no incident that made Siti Bainun wanted to abuse her?
Witness: I am not sure.
Lawyer: OK, you are not sure. According to the testimony, Yasmin was not there in February. Now, in March. Yasmin was already in that condo. Any incidences which caused Siti Bainun not to like Bella?
Witness: There was an incident, I don’t remember which month. That was the cause. From then on, Bella was treated differently.
Lawyer: What was the incident?
Witness: Bella entered the second room. My room and Bella’s. Bella pulled the curtain until it crossed and was torn. When Bainun knew about it, she became angry and hit Bella.
