KUALA LUMPUR – An Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) who allegedly did a TikTok live streaming on her personal social media during a raid on an entertainment centre will face stern action.
The Bukit Aman Director of Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID), Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said that he is aware about the action of the senior officer from the Bukit Aman NCID and is waiting for the investigation result from the Bukit Aman Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS).
“Her action of recording a livestream video during a raid is not permitted, unless it is an official programme on the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) official social media.
“There is no problem if it is official (PDRM social media accounts) but we found that her TikTok has personal agenda in promoting and increasing her followers.
“This is obviously against the standard operating procedures (SOP) and the procedures set by the PDRM,” he said in a news conference today.
He said, a circular on the usage of social media including TikTok by officers and members of PDRM issued in August 2020, May 2014 and February 2021 must be obeyed.
Ayob Khan said, he will not compromise the any police officer who violates the procedures and SOP of the force.
“You should know my stern approaches and there will be no compromise at all when it comes to the misconducts involving my officers and team.
“I will take stern actions without bias, regardless of their rank. Same action will be taken. In Johor, not only ASP but I also took disciplinary action on Superintendent, OCPD,” he said.
Earlier, a 38-minute TikTok video went viral in the social media showing a policewoman with the rank of ASP doing a livestream on the application during a raid on an entertainment outlet along with other officers and members of the force.
The video however was criticised and raised questions if the officer was chasing for popularity. -MalaysiaGazette
