KUALA LUMPUR – A TikTok live video of a policewoman during an operation went viral on the social media.
The policewoman with the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) was seen to be excited with the number of viewers of her livestream video which reached 1,900 live views.
Her nonchalant action raised questions among netizens if the law enforcers are allowed to do live streaming during their operations on their personal social media account.
Although she did not show the visual of the premise or environment of the operation, the several other members of the police force also joined her TikTok live.
Based on the background, the police were allegedly in an operation on an entertainment centre at around 4.00 am based on the background of the livestream video.
Besides that, the policewoman also promoted her TikTok account and said that she is trying to get 100,000 followers.
In December 2020, the former Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador recommended that the members of Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) should not be playing with their social media or TikTok while on duty as it is not appropriate and could tarnish the image of the force.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Commissioner Datuk Razarudin Husain has instructed the Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS) of PDRM to take immediate action on the policewoman, including getting her statement on the TikTok live video.
“We also want to know her motive and real purpose of making that recording on her personal TikTok account,” he said today.
The 38-second video showed a policewoman in uniform with ASP rank explaining about her scope of work of conducting raid and inspection on the entertainment centre. -MalaysiaGazette
