KUALA LUMPUR – The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) verified that the ban on using loudspeakers for azan was not in Malaysia but in Pune, India.
The ban was instructed by the President of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and it was reported in The New Indian Express on 17 April.
He also ordered all mosques to take down their loudspeakers by 3 May 2022, otherwise, Hindu chants will be played in front of the mosques if they fail to follow the order.
Therefore, the police are investigating on TikTok account owner, Syierabahari for elaborating the issue in a provocative may which could cause unease and racial disharmony in Malaysia.
The Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Director, Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan said, the investigation is carried out under Section 505 (C) of the Penal Code as the statement had the intent to incite or which is likely to incite any class or community of persons to commit any offence against any other class or community of persons.
Besides that, it is also investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for inappropriate usage of network or network services.
“Investigation is underway and PDRM would like to advise the people not to make speculations which could affect investigation.
“Stern actions without compromise will be taken against any individuals for intentionally disrupting peace and public order,” he said. -MalaysiaGazette
