KUALA LUMPUR – A road bully who drove Toyota Alphard at the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway has been remanded by the police to assist in an investigation despite the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Public Holiday.
The Selangor Traffic and Enforcement Department Chief Superintendent Azman Shari’at said, the suspect was brought to the Shah Alam Magistrate Court at 10.00 am today for remand order.
“The local male suspect was brought to the Magistrate Court for remand order before the court approved the three-day remand beginning today until 4 May 2022 to assist the police in its interview and completion of the case,” he said when contacted by MalaysiaGazette today.
The suspect will be investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
On Sunday (1 May) morning, the police detected a 2 minutes 24 seconds viral video in the social media, showing a white-coloured Toyota Alphard being driven in a reckless manner at Kilometre (KM)25.1 until KM27.5 of the Karak Highway, Genting Sempah bound.
In that video, the driver of that multipurpose vehicle (MPV) tried to cut queue using the emergency lane and his action was recorded by the dashcam of another motorist on the expressway.
The driver was also blocked the road and provoked other drivers by braking abruptly.
Following that, the police issued an order for the suspect to turn himself in voluntarily to facilitate the investigation.
After that, the Gombak District Police launched a manhunt for the suspect before the 43-year-old man was arrested at the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department of the Gombak District Police Headquarters at about 2.00 pm yesterday. -MalaysiaGazette
