Couple in viral video of ramming into policeman at McDonald’s Bangi charged

BANGI – The couple of lovers who went viral for ramming into a policeman at the carpark of McDonald’s fast food restaurant in Bandar Baru Bangi last Tuesday are charged at the Magistrate Court today.

The man, who is a factory worker, pleaded guilty on two charges for causing injury and committing mischief on the police on duty during an inspection on 9 March.

However, his girlfriend pleaded not guilty for abetting on the two charges during the incident.

They made the plea after the charge papers were read to them separately before Sessions Court Judge who acted as the Magistrate, Effandi Nazila Abdullah.

The two accused, Muhammad Asraf Zulkifli, 19 and the woman believed to be his girlfriend, Umiezatul Asyikin Nasrun, 20, were brought to the court at 9.30 am separately from the Semenyih and Bangi Police Station.

According to the first count of charge, Muhammad Asraf was found to have voluntarily caused hurt to a civil servant, policeman, Mohamad Amirul Yahya who was carrying out his duty. He was charged for committing the offence on 9 March, 10.30 pm at the parking lot of McDonald’s, Section 9, Bandar Baru Bangi, which is punishable under Section 332 of the Penal Code which provides imprisonment of up to three years or fine or both upon conviction.

Meanwhile, on the second count of charge, the accused is charged for committing mischief and causing damage to the handle bar, exhaust, sport rims and rear number plate of Yamaha Y15 motorcycle with registration number of VED3687 belonging to Mohamad Amirul, causing the loss of RM1,060. The accused is charged with committing the offence under Section 427 of the Penal Code which provides the maximum imprisonment of up to five years or fine or both upon conviction.

Meanwhile, Umiezatul Asyikin is charged with committing the same offences by abetting in them, read together with Section 109 of the Penal Code which provides the same punishment.

She was charged with abetting with Muhammad Asraf who caused hurt and committed mischief on a policeman and his motorcycle, Yamaha Y15 during the same incident.

However, she pleaded not guilty on the two charges of abetting with the first accused, Muhammad Asraf.

The prosecution was made by Muhammad Fauzan Mohd Nor, who offered RM10,000 on the two accused.

However, Effandi set bail at RM2,500 for each charge for both accused. He also set 12 April for the mention of the case while waiting for the moral report of Muhammad Asraf from the Department of Social Welfare (JKM). -MalaysiaGazette
