JITRA – An eight month old baby boy dies after he got stuck at the metal frame of his bed at the hostel of the Department of Social Welfare (JKM) yesterday.
A source to MalaysiaGazette said that it received a call from a hospital at 8.30 pm last night on the death of the victim before the police are deployed to the location.
Two hostel staff, a 43 year-old man and a 60-year-old woman were on duty during the incident.
The incident is believed to happen between 7.00 pm and 8.00 pm when the man and the senior citizen left the baby on the bed and placed pillows on the left and right sides of the baby.
“After her prayer, the woman inspected the beds of the hostel and found that the victim’s head was stuck between the metal bed frame.
“We do not reject the possibility that the victim was trying to crawl out through the metal frame of the bed,” he said when contacted by MalaysiaGazette today.
According to the source, early investigation on the body of the victim did not find any injury that suggested there was an element of crime.
Following the incident, the police arrested the two suspects to assist into the investigation under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.
The body of the victim was sent to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for autopsy.
Meanwhile, the Kubang Pasu District Police Chief, Superintendent Rodzi Abu Hassan verified the incident when contacted by MalaysiaGazette.
The victim was sent to the JKM care centre for temporary care on 1 April after his parents were arrested due to drugs related case. –MalaysiaGazette
