JOHOR BAHRU – Three suspects of house break-in cases sustained serious injuries after they tried to flee from the police by jumping off the flyover at Jalan Tampoi early this morning.
In the 4.45 am incident, the three suspects aged between 22 and 30 years-old sustained broken arms, shoulders and spine.
The Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said in a statement that a team of police was patrolling Jalan Seri Orkid in front of Hutan Bandar, Taman Mutiara Rini.
The suspicious car was ordered to stop.
Nevertheless they ignored the order and the car with four passengers including the driver sped towards Jalan Skudai.
“The car overturned and ran into a road divider at Jalan Tampoi near the Angsana Mall in Johor Bahru.
“During the arrest, three suspects jumped off from the flyover, causing them injuries such as broken arms, shoulders and spine,” he said.
The four unemployed suspects were arrested. Various equipment including a radio, two loudspeakers, a mower and two cell phones were seized, believed to be stolen goods.
They are suspected to be involved in house break-in cases around Jalan Bakti, Mutiara Rini.
Based on inspection, three of them have previous criminal records.
Dzulkhairi added, the three injured suspects are now stable. They are receiving treatment at the Emergency Unit of the Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Bahru.
The case is investigated under Section 457 and Section 186 of the Penal Code and Section 29(1) of Minor Offence Act. –MalaysiaGazette
