KUALA LUMPUR – The remand of an assistant secretary of a ministry yesterday by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has led to the arrest of another man today.
The MACC arrested a manager from the company implicated with the corruption to gain government contract worth RM60 million from the same ministry.
The remand order was issued by Assistant Registrar Roslizawati Mohd Zanin at the Putrajaya Magistrate Court today at the request of the MACC.
The remand on the suspect began today and will end on 27 June.
The 43-year-old suspect gave his statement at the MACC Headquarters last night before he was arrested and brought to the court today.
According to a source, the suspect is suspected to have abetted the division assistant secretary to monopolise projects amounting to RM60 million from the ministry since 2018.
The syndicate has hauled approximately 16 projects involving 11 times bribery payments.
The case is investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009. –MalaysiaGazette
