TANJONG KARANG – Coordinating Minister of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK), Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar denies the allegation of Selangor Health Exco, Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud who said that there is not enough of Covid-19 vaccine supply in Selangor.

On the contrary, Khairy said that the claim is baseless as the current capacity needed by Selangor is merely 40,000 doses per day.

“It is true that we sent the vaccine, there is balance of vaccine in Selangor and she wants us to send more vaccine to them.

“I had a meeting with the Menteri Besar two weeks ago. The state government mentioned that the capacity of Selangor for June is 40,000 doses per day. We supply according to that capacity.

“I am not sure where the Health Exco picked the 80,000 figure from.

“She didn’t even attend the meeting,” he added.

Earlier, Dr Siti Mariah twitted that several vaccination centres (PPV) in Selangor have ran out of vaccine and have to be closed down in several days if they don’t receive new vaccine supplies.

Meanwhile, as of yesterday, Selangor has received more than 1.36 million doses of vaccine and he said that her allegation does not make sense.

“This is our data and I present it today so that the people know that we have sent 1.36 million doses to Selangor.

“There is a balance of 322,000 doses and there is also new delivery to Selangor today,” he said.

He hopes that Selangor can reach the capacity of 100,000 per day by July.

“This is our plan and we will send sufficient vaccine to fulfil the 100,000 jabs target per day.

“The capacity as presented by the Selangor State Government before its Menteri Besar and I is 40,000 doses,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
