KUALA LUMPUR – Only essential services such as utilities, cleaning and sewerage are allowed to operate during the implementation of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in 34 sub-districts in Selangor and 14 localities Kuala Lumpur that begins this Saturday.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, besides that, only nine types of food factories are allowed to operate during the EMCO in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
“Only food factories and daily essentials such as rice, white bread (loaf), sugar, cooking oil, wheat flour, fresh milk, infant formula, medicine and face mask are allowed to operate.
“Permission to work is only granted to essential services or official government duties with the verification letter from the employers or valid employee pass.
“Employees other than essential services will not be allowed to leave the EMCO area and cannot work throughout the EMCO period. Employers must adhere to this order and allow their employees to work from home,” he said in an official statement today.
Meanwhile, restaurants, eateries, food trucks, roadside food stalls and food courts are allowed to operate between 8.00 am until 8.00 pm for takeaways only.
Besides that, grocery stores, convenience stores and shops selling essential items are allowed to operate according to the same hours, from 8.00 am until 8.00 pm.
Nevertheless, hospitals, clinics and medical laboratories are allowed to operate 24 hours or according to their approval license. Meanwhile, pharmacies, drug stores, veterinary clinics and pet food shops can operate during the same hours.
“Petrol stations are allowed to operate between 6.00 am until 8.00 pm, with the exception of petrol stations at highways with toll, they can operate for 24 hours,” he said.
Wholesale market is allowed to operate from 12.00 am until 6.00 am. Public market, Permanent Farmers Market, MyFarm Outlet (MFO) are allowed to operate from 6.00 am until 2.00 pm.
“All sports, social, recreational and cultural activities are not allowed,” said Ismail Sabri. –MalaysiaGazette
