Covid-19 positive inmate flees hospital

KUALA LUMPUR – A male foreigner inmate tested positive of Covid-19 has escaped while receiving treatment at the Kajang Hospital today.

According to a source, the inmate who is in his 40’s was receiving treatment at the hospital for about a week after he was screened and tested positive for Covid-19.

“The inmate broke out from the handcuff cuffed on the Covid-19 treatment ward bed before escaping through the window of the hospital at around 4.00 am today.

“The effort to track and arrest the inmate is ongoing,” said the source when contacted this morning.

Meanwhile, the Kajang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hassan verified the incident when contacted by MalaysiaGazette.

“We received a police report (on the incident) and it is currently under investigation,” he said without sharing further details. –MalaysiaGazette
