PETALING JAYA – The man who obstructed the police in carrying out their duties while he was being fined for not wearing face mask, recorded the incident and distributed the video on his Facebook has been remanded for four days until 24 July to assist in police investigation.
Assistant Registrar Hairol Azhar Mohd Ishak issued the four-day remand order on the suspect after the man was brought to the Petaling Jaya Magistrate Court with his hands cuffed by the police at 10.30 am this morning.
The Petaling Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Muhamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid verified the matter and said that the police would submit the investigation papers to the Deputy Public Prosecutor once they complete the investigation.
He said, the 29-year-old suspect was arrested at his house located at an apartment in Bandar Sri Damansara at 10.00 pm last night after the provocative incident of him scorning the police at a petrol station in Sri Damansara at 12.30 pm yesterday.
“The suspect recorded the a Live Facebook video during the arrest at his house and refused to cooperate with the civil servants who were carrying out their duties,” he said when contacted by MalaysiaGazette today.
According to Muhamad Fakhrudin, the suspect is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for refusing to cooperate with the police who were carrying out their duties.
Besides that, the man is also being investigated under Section 504 of the same code for intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace.
At the same time, Muhamad Fakhrudin said that the man is also investigated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code for making statement or rumour which is likely to cause, fear or alarm to the public and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for distributing the recording on social media and Section 14 of Minor Offences Act for displaying insulting behaviour at public place. –MalaysiaGazette
