KUALA LUMPUR – The Perikatan Nasional (PN) government said that the Proclamation of Emergency will not be extended after it expires on 1 August 2021.

During the special Parliament sitting today, the Minister at Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said that the government would not advise the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to extend the Proclamation of Emergency.

“The Federal Government has decided not to advise the YDPA to declare a new Proclamation of Emergency after it ends on 1 August,” he said.

Thus, Takiyuddin said that all emergency ordinances under the Proclamation of Emergency would be revoked after the period.

“The government has decided based on Article 150 (3) to revoke all Emergency Ordinances made during the Proclamation of Emergency,” he added. –MalaysiaGazette
