KUALA LUMPUR – The Member of Parliament (MP) of Besut, Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh has decided to support the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government under the leadership of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

As a person who has not been talking much or interfere with the political crisis, he said that Muhyiddin has helped UMNO a lot.

“For the benefit of the people and not being political, I have decided to support the existing government under the leadership of Muhyiddin.

“We try as much as we can, not to be political, especially when the people are suffering with Covid-19 issues. We should focus our time on helping the people. Increase vaccination and heal the economy.

“We should not deny that Muhyiddin has helped UMNO a lot. Under the Pakatan Harapan (PH), we, UMNO were the opposition. Now, we are together with the government,” he said in a statement today.

He, who is also the Chairman of Felda said that UMNO leaders has been recognised as the Deputy Prime Minister and Senior Ministers in the government.

Idris also quoted examples of Muhyiddin assisting Felda settlers by starting setting up the RM9.9 billion sukuk aid, followed by abolishing their debts amounting to RM8.3 billion.

“We can never meet another leader like this, who has a big heart by helping the Felda settlers like this,” he said.

On the current situation in UMNO, Idris said that the President of UMNO, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had said earlier that the Members of Parliament of the party is free to choose who they want to support in the Parliament.

Now, Ahmad Zahid often flip-flopping with his decision by instructing the UMNO MPs to withdraw their support to the government and Prime Minister.

“Unfortunately, I don’t see the game plan of where the President of UMNO is leading us when the people’s health is still at stake. We are instructed to reject the existing government and reject Muhyiddin’s leadership.

“Where are we heading after that? Do we want to return to be the opposition? Allow the non-Malays to rule Islam? Or, are we supposed to support Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as we know how close the two are?” he questioned.

The former Menteri Besar of Terengganu said that the UMNO General Assembly has decided to reject Anwar but Ahmad Zahid said that the President of PKR is his teacher.

According to Idris, Ahmad Zahid, silently, has also signed a statutory declaration (SD) to support Anwar.

“Therefore, we need to be more careful in making decision for the sustainability of UMNO in the future.

“In my opinion, UMNO’s future would be better if we are with the existing government under Muhyiddin’s leadership. The government is not faultless but to avoid bigger disaster, it is the better choice.

“I urge that we can increase the solidarity among the UMNO members. I love UMNO, then, now and forever,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
